You cannot tap "download" on a Tango live the way you might save a posted video - live broadcasts are not exposed as downloadable files. To end up with an MP4, the live has to be recorded. Here are the two ways to get that file.
Why there's no native download
A Tango live exists only while the host is broadcasting. Tango does not publish the live as a file, during or after, so there is nothing to download directly. The MP4 you want has to be created by capturing the stream.
Option 1: Download via TangoRec (recommended)
TangoRec records public Tango lives in the cloud and sends you the MP4 - effectively giving you a downloadable file without any manual capture:
- Open @tangorec_live_bot
- Send
/watch usernamefor the creator you follow - When they go live, TangoRec records it and delivers the MP4 to your Telegram
From Telegram you can save the file to your device with one tap, or forward it. The recording is clean - no notifications or screen overlays - and captured from the start of the live.
For lives that were already recorded, you can also grab them from the TangoRec archive instead of waiting for a new broadcast.
Option 2: Screen record, then save the file
If you are watching a live in real time, screen-record it and you will have an MP4 in your gallery:
- Android: Quick Settings → Screen Record
- iPhone: Control Center → Screen Recording
This produces a downloadable file, but only for lives you catch live and watch all the way through, and the video includes whatever was on your screen.
MP4 download checklist
- Want a clean file without watching live? Use TangoRec - the MP4 comes to Telegram.
- Watching right now and just want a copy? Screen-record, then save from your gallery.
- Looking for a past live? Check the TangoRec archive first.
